How do you have a virtual choir rehearsal? That’s a very good question! I am sure many of you have heard that live remote group singing, or group music making in general, is near impossible with the delays inherent with online technology. But I am happy to report that sharing music in any number of ways is very possible, and both of our choirs have been doing it since September. Our Youth Choir has been meeting online and learning new songs and also singing ‘rolling solos’ where each choir member takes a portion of a song and sings in order, putting a whole song together with solos. Youth Choir members have been taking turns volunteering to lead a favorite song, and they also completed a wonderful project, where they picked someone to share a song with, and called them/face-timed them and sang that song. We heard such wonderful reports of how much the song meant to the person receiving it. Our Adult Choir has also been meeting online for singing, practicing old favorites, sharing prayer and special stories, and even learning to sing in a new language! We are keeping the music going at St. Bart’s! Now is the perfect time to explore the St. Bartholomew choirs from the comfort of your own home.
