Meet our cantors! During this time when we are not able to have congregational singing, our cantors have worked hard to keep the music going at St. Bart’s and help spread God’s message through vocal music. We hope you have been able to listen to the words of the songs that are chosen for each Mass; we are choosing songs that are reflective of the readings, in the hope that they will speak to everyone listening. There may be a few new songs that we have shared that will hopefully become new parish favorites when we can all sing together again.
The cantors that you have been hearing include Danielle Coles and Marty Cunniffe, long time cantors for St. Bart’s who have faithfully traded off coverage for most of our weekend and Holy Day Masses since last spring when we were allowed to resume services.
Joseph Nedder, who started cantoring for us in middle school and high school and is now in college, covered the 4 PM and the occasional 9:45 Mass this past spring and summer, and was back serving at the 4 PM throughout Advent and into early January. We recently welcomed back Jill Curley, who typically sings at the 4 PM Mass several times a month. Finally, we have a few new faces at the 8 AM Mass. Madison Hatten and John Anthony Volpe will be sharing coverage at the 8 AM Mass for a few weeks, and may also help out at the 9:45 Masses. Please give them a nice St. Bart’s welcome if you are at any of their Masses, and perhaps welcome them with a wave or a nod hello. We thank all of our cantors for helping to keep the music going, and for inspiring us with heartfelt lyrics and song.
