In a letter dated June 8th, Cardinal Sean declared that the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass, which was put in place at the beginning of the pandemic, will be lifted beginning the weekend of June 19/20. In the letter, he sites the importance of the Eucharistic Liturgy in the lives of all Catholics. The full text of his letter can be read by clicking here.
It is important to remember that there are instances where the obligation does not apply. He specifically mentions those who are ill (please do not come if you are sick!), those who have been exposed to COVID or other communicable illness, those who are confined to their homes, hospitals or other facilities due to illness, infirmity, frailty or age; and those who are not yet able to be vaccinated, due to age or health consideration.
Please be sure to read the whole letter.
