Today we begin our annual trek to Jerusalem with Jesus as we enter into Holy Week. It is hard to believe that a year ago, we were preparing to celebrate Holy Week and Easter with only virtual liturgies. A year later, our churches are open we are (hopefully) beginning to see the light of a turning point in the pandemic.
As we enter into Holy Week, we know we are entering into the darkest days of our Lord’s earthly journey before His glorious resurrection. Let us enter fully with him into his suffering and death so as to appreciate and anticipate more fully the light of the day that will never end in the kingdom of heaven. May our commemorations and celebrations this week also remind us that Jesus is constantly providing us with the light of His grace no matter how dark things may appear to be around us.
