Eucharistic Ministers

Extraordinary Ministers are commissioned by the Pastor to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to members of our parish either at Mass or on home visit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Attend an initial training program and on-going formation as requested
  • Home visits will require additional training
  • Be dependable
  • Be available when scheduled for a Mass or find a substitute, when necessary, from the provided Eucharistic Minister list
  • Be a person of faith, reverence, and awareness of the sacredness of this role
  • Understand the liturgical service in which you are participating
  • Attend any additional liturgical meetings and rehearsals, as necessary, to better understand your role
  • Be knowledgeable about the teachings of the Church
  • Be aware of and willing to assist anyone who is in physical difficulty and unable to come to you for Communion
  • Dress appropriately
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes early for Mass preparation

Eucharistic Ministers:

  • Be a person of faith and spirituality
  • Be people oriented and relate to them in your sacred role in distributing the Holy Eucharist
  • Accept all people as they are
  • Be responsible and accountable for your actions
  • Appropriate public and personal conduct is required so as to reflect the sacredness of this Sacrament which you minister
  • Volunteer at any Mass where you see the need for an additional Eucharistic Minister, even if you are not scheduled
  • Make a 2 year commitment with renewal possible in consult with the Pastor
