Catechists / Aides

As we learn and grow in faith, there are individuals who instruct and mentor to us along our jour- ney. Catechists are individuals who nurture faith in our children and teens by sharing their faith through information and witness in the parish religious education program. Catechists are not expected to be theological experts, but to live their faith and help others to develop their faith life.

Responsibilities include:

  • Spend approximately 1 hour per class in preparation
  • Read, pray about, and understand relevant materials
  • Present the materials to students in an engaging and age appropriate manner
  • Prepare activities to illustrate the theme (both from provided materials and outside sources) including role play/dramatizations, arts and crafts, games, movement, discussions, etc.
  • Research additional relevant resources including events from daily life (newspapers, etc.), lives of the saints, Scripture passages
