Ministering with the young

Overview

Each of us holds gifts, skills, and talents that enrich the lives of others. Without Stewards to take the Word of the Lord and make it’s light and warmth alive, it lies silent. Each volunteer does more than just show up and perform a task, you share your life and your faith in loud and quiet ways. 

Adults can have an important role in the life of the children and youth of our community; as a role model, guide, and mentor in a variety of capacities.  Children and youth will also enrich your faith in many unexpected ways.

Our parish is a dynamic community with many programs and activities who could use your assistance. Without volunteer participation, these programs cannot be offered.

Some Roles to consider:

  • Religious Education Catechist or Aide
  • Youth ministry advisor
  • Coach – 1st & 2nd grade soccer or CYO Basketball
  • Adminitrative help
  • Crafts
  • Events
  • Children’s Liturgy of the Word leader

Child Protection & Safe Environment

All volunteers who work with children or teens in any capacity with St. Bart’s must submit a yearly Criminal Offender Record Investigation (CORI) form, have a signed Code of Ministerial Behavior (Code of Conduct) on record at the parish and participate in the “Protecting God’s Children” sexual abuse awareness & prevention training. 

Protecting God’s Children Training dates: (call St. Bart’s parish office to register)

  • Sunday September 19th 7pm in the O’brien Room (basement of the rectory)
  • Sunday September 26th 7pm in the Linse Room (at St. Joe’s)
  • Wednesday Oct 6th 7pm in the Linse Room (at St. Joe’s)

Library – Come in to the Religious Education Office (located in the rectory) to peruse our library – we have books for all grades on prayer, saints, sacraments, the Mass, and other topics.
