Curriculum
Personal Safety Program: Through the use of safety rules, students in grades 1-8 are taught tools to help to protect themselves in a variety of contexts including situations that may be either physically or sexually abusive. Students learn skills to identify dangerous/abusive situations, respond assertively, and ask for help when they need it.
Pre-School: Families with children younger than Kindergarten are invited to remain with their child for faith based stories and activities during the afternoon class session.
Kindergarten – 6th grade: The We Believe series published by Sadlier is used by all students in K-6th grades. Their website has many at-home resources, games & supplements to help your family grow in faith through the year. http://www.sadlierreligion.com/webelieve/index.cfm
7th, 8th, and 9th grade: September, October and November will be spent learning and discussing the revised translation of the Mass prayers that will come into effect starting November 27th. The resource all grades are using is from www.ltp.org . If your child must miss a class, please contact Melisa Hughes for a packet of work that will keep students on track with their peers.
Starting in January, no single text is used for their resources but each grade follows a theme developed to provide well-rounded faith development through Scripture, Service, Church Teaching, Prayer and Morality to help students from the faith of a child to the faith of an adult.
10th grade – Confirmation: Starting in January we welcome students in Catholic Schools as we enter the final preparation for the Sacrament. Students focus on the elements of the Celebration including anointing, baptismal promises, and the Holy Spirit.
As a reflection of our parish commitment to social justice & outreach, all students in the upper grades are expected to share of themselves through community service. Please choose at least one activity listed on the Social Justice calendar to participate in:
