NEW! Youth Group

>For students in grades 7th – 10th grade, those in grades 11 & 12 also welcome to join in any activities that would appeal.
We are looking at a couple of different activities that might be of interest to the group:

> One is a weekend at the Heifer International Farm in Rutland, MA  (near Worcester) May 13-15, 2011.  www.Heifer.org

Heifer is an organization dedicated to addressing world hunger.  Their philosophy correlates directly to the Bishop’s Economic Pastoral.  The first night consists of a meal made from things produced on the farm (sustainable agriculture) and team building exercises.  The second day looks at living in way that is the usual way of life for many people around the world, one in which nothing – shelter, food, water or cooking fuel – can be taken for granted. Participants prepare a meal with limited resources and sleep in simple housing.  Students who have participated in the past have thoroughly enjoyed the experience on the farm!   It might be possible to find a nearby parish where the group could attend mass together before heading home.  Spaces very limited, contact Patty Doyle, padoyle2002@yahoo.com for more info.

> A trip to the Semitic Museum at Harvard to see the houses of Ancient Israel exhibit during Holy Week (April 20th).  This would give the opportunity to see housing from biblical times, bringing the events of holy week to life.
All ideas and suggestions welcome!
