TO HONOR.
“Honor thy mother and father” is so important that it was made one of the Ten Commandments. Remembering and honoring the living and dead are important elements of our faith. Remembering and praying for those we have loved will hopefully hasten their journey to be with our Father for all eternity. We pray for those who have no one to pray for them. We remember… We pray…
In May we remember and honor our Blessed Mother. We have just had Memorial Day on which our country remembers and honors those who have made military sacrifices, some the ultimate, with the giving of their lives for their country. We remember… This year and every year our parish acknowledges the death of some of its parishioners. We will remember them. We will miss them. On the small right side altar, that of the Holy Family, we have placed a book in which is written the name of each parishioner who dies this year and is buried from St. Bartholomew Parish. “The Lord will open to them the gate of paradise, and they will return to that homeland where there is no death, but only lasting joy.” We will remember them in all Masses this year…our family, our friends, our neighbors.
January: Robert Blakeney, Eleanor Costa: February: Arthur LaCroix: March: Gary Jones, Richard Graham, Nicholas Burdett, Eleanor Clancy, Margaret Guillett: April: Virginia Crowley: May: Jane Marie McDonald, Gilbert F. Sullivan.
TODAY: FEAST OF PENTECOST “The Spirit of the Lord fills the whole world. It hold all things together and knows every word spoken by man, alleluia.” Wisdom 1:7 “The love of God has been poured into our hearts by His Spirit living in us.” Romans 5:5; 8:11 May we always remember and honor ourselves as the vessels holding the Holy Spirit who works in us and through us in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
